The most famous sunglass model in the world...
For centuries (as early as 1300c), sunglasses were created not to protect from the sun but to hide the eyes of Chinese court judges who wanted to conceal their eye expressions so that their evaluation of the evidence wasn't apparent until the trials conclusions. The court room models were made from darkened smoke coloured quartz lenses, a technology that was developed in China prior to 1430. The darkened lenses weren't vision corrected nor were they intended to reduce glare and provide sun protection. It wasn't until later on in1929 that the first pair of modern ready to wear sunglasses were sold on the beaches of Atlantic City, a historic turning point that moulded the eyewear market that we know today. In 1936 came a far-reaching revolution, the birth of Ray Ban's 3025 Aviator. A world leader in eyewear health was awarded an official patent for an anti glare proto type, consisting of a lightweight gold plated frame with two green mineral glass lenses which were complete with newly found polarised technology that protected against infrared and ultraviolet rays. Designed with a tear drop shaped lens that would maximally shield the eyes of aviator's and pilots in the United States Army Air Corps, a lens shape that repeatedly glances downwards at a planes instrument panel. Ray Ban's Aviator model later became available to the public to purchase in 1937. Thanks to the frames fundamental eyewear protection and chic cool styling a mass industry had developed that had never existed just a few decades earlier. Groundbreaking Italian made sunnies that have stolen the spotlight in more movies and music videos than you could begin to imagine, the accessory of choice for the rich, famous and the world's most beautiful supermodels and is unquestionably the most influential style in eyewear history, often imitated but never matched. Alluring celebrity statement frames that work in any given situation, a perfect piece of history. Ray Ban's 3025 Aviators are our best seller as we ship thousands of them each and every year to fans from every corner of the globe. Here's what Daniel thought about the quality of our 3025s, 'Out of all my aviator sunglasses the Ray-Ban aviators do actually feel good quality over all. The glass lenses give them the weight so you know you are wearing something half decent. I find the arms on the 3025 quite wiry and flexible. They do not have sprung hinges, but the arms flex and this gives them, the long wearing comfort required without putting too much pressure on your temples. Also as the nose pads are active, you can move them to get a really comfortable fit on your nose.' Where as one of our female customers who focuses more on price and styling says, 'The first thing that persuaded me to purchase Ray Ban aviators was the price. I purchased both Ray Ban’s 3025 0013E and 3025 W3237 models for a total of £159.90. The single frame I’d initially wanted cost more, bargain! I also worked out I saved the grand total of £29.10 as all frames featured on the Sunglasses Shop website have a reduced RRP. I always opt for niche exclusives when it comes to accessories so I made sure I chose the most deviating frames available. In fact, both of my Ray Ban’s are so particular I’ve yet to see a celeb sporting them in the media.' All in all, Ray Ban 3025 Aviators aren't just our Sunglasses of the Month but the sunglass model of all time which will continue to grace the centre pages of Vogue for decades to come.
